Heading into the 7th week of qualifying events with 139 pilots on the board and 11 qualifying events complete here is the current overall leaderboard..

We saw Perth club Rotorcross hold the first event in W.A. so far with the top effort going to Terrence Byron with a 33.37s run putting him 15th overall.
Northern Beaches Drone Crew ran NSW’s 3rd event with 3 pilots hitting all of the events so far, on average reducing their times by 11.15% from event #1 to event #3. Last years Nationals finalist Lee Stevenson aka BONES shaved a further 1.2 seconds off his previous time and slotted himself into a massive 2nd position overall at 29.91s.
QLD saw it’s first and second event falling on the same double-header weekend with 24 pilots getting themselves on the board at FPV Rebels Inc.or NEXT LEVEL FPV. Wonder kid Rudi Browning (RedRoo), the reigning World Champion, put in a solid effort snagging 3rd place overall with a time of 30.23 seconds. Ben Mortsensen and Alex Mchugh put in great efforts to secure 13th and 18th overall respectively.
Royal Australian Air Force‘s drone racing team put on drone racing all weekend long at their Richmond base in Sydney. RAAF Cadet and youngster from Albury Josh Brewster snagged the best overall time and put himself in 31st. With the Australian Army Drone Racing Team holding their equivalant tomorrow who are we going to see clocking faster times? Our money is on the Army lads!
Finally, today we saw our inaugural International qualifying event in New Zealand. Over 20 pilots braved some terribly cold and rainy weather to get themselves on the board. Michael Douglas (fpvdoug) did his best despite the miserable conditions and ran up a 31.90 second time. Something tells us he has plenty left in the tank. Thanks to Rotorcross N.Z. and everyone in New Zealand for putting on a great event!
With more than 10 events still to go, expect some big changes to the leaderboard still to come!
Just 21 days left of qualifying and 60 days until the Nationals.
