MultiGP Regional Series — Road to the Final
The MultiGP Regional Series is an international racing series created by MultiGP for MultiGP Chapters. Australia has a number of clubs registered as MultiGP Chapters, making them eligible to run events as part of the series, and AUFPV took on responsibility for coordinating the series across the Australia/New Zealand region.
The series allows MultiGP Chapters to host a regional qualifier where pilots earn points towards the regional final. Winners of a regional qualifier gain automatic entry to the final, with the remaining positions in the top 48 filled based on points earned at qualifying events. Pilots are eligible to travel to as many qualifiers as they wish to earn points. The winner of the regional final earns a place at the upcoming MultiGP Championships.
Australia has five eligible MultiGP Chapters:
- Canberra Multirotor Racing Club (Tier 1 Chapter)
- Outer Heaven Drone Racing (Tier 1 Chapter)
- Eastside FPV (Tier 2 Chapter)
- Panorama Drone Racing (Tier 2 Chapter)
- FPV Rebels (Tier 3 Chapter)
Eastside FPV in Melbourne were the first to run their regional qualifier, with digsky becoming the first pilot in Australia to lock down a position in the final. Davey FPV from Canberra Multirotor Racing Club was the clear favourite in the region's second qualifying event and delivered, taking the win. In Sydney, in a potential preview of the final, Fizz took first place in a hotly contested event at Outer Heaven.
The Panorama Drone Racing qualifier was always going to be interesting. As one of Australia's newest and smallest clubs, it presented an opportunity for pilots to travel to regional Australia and compete for points. Despite a couple of pilots from Sydney making the trip, local president MacDaddy took the win. FPV Rebels were the last to host their qualifier, and with Brisbane quickly becoming the home of fast, young drone racing pilots, it was always going to be close. In the end, reigning Australian Drone Nationals Champion Wilf took the win in his first event back after almost eight months away from racing in a positive sign leading up to the Australian Drone Nationals for the two time champion.
With the qualifier winners locked in, it comes down to points to determine who else is invited. AeroplaneJelly took top place on the regional leaderboard, having raced at both Outer Heaven and Panorama Drone Racing. Tumblebee was the only other pilot to race in multiple qualifiers, accompanying AeroplaneJelly on the trip to Bathurst.
Points at each qualifier were awarded based on the number of pilots competing at that event. With the largest field of any qualifier, CMRC's event awarded the most points, so its pilots dominate the top 48. However, with only 59 competitors across the series, it's highly likely that any pilot who competed will be able to attend the final should they wish.
Invites are being sent out now via the AUFPV platform — pilots can accept their offer, register, and pay for the final, hosted by Outer Heaven Drone Racing in Sydney on Sunday 2 August 2026.
